HeadLine : Exporters brew interest in grainier teas at Kochi

Amidst low arrivals, grainier tea varieties were dearer by ?3 to ?5 at the Kochi auctions following export enquiries.

However, there was some resistance on teas of ?150 and above in Sale No 8. These varieties were sometimes easier and witnessed some withdrawals, said auctioneers Forbes, Ewart & Figgis.

In orthodox dust, primary grades remained steady and others were lower. Exporters and upcountry buyers continued to be the major participants. The quantity on offer was 10,500 kg.In the leaf category, the market for Nilgiri brokens, whole leaf and Fannings in orthodox grades was firm to dearer. The quantity on offer was 138,000 kg.

The quantity on offer in CTC dust was 6,96,500 kg, witnessing a drop compared to last week. There was subdued demand from leading blenders and upcountry buyers.
